About Kris
Aloha~ my name is Kris! I grew up in Huntington Beach, California. I began swimming when I could barely walk at a local pool in Seal Beach. Several of my family members were all swimmers and lifeguards, so needless to say it was inevitable for me to be a swimmer as well.
Growing up I was drawn to the ocean and began surfing while I was in junior lifeguards. I continued to swim on local club swim teams and play on several club soccer teams throughout middle school. When I reached high school I took up water polo and continued soccer. I played both sports all four years. While in high school I taught surfing for 4 years at a local surf school, while also teaching private lessons to all ages.
From High school I moved to up north to play college sports at California State University Monterey Bay. I played Division 2 soccer and water polo there. My junior year I transferred to the University of Hawaii Manoa where I finished out my water polo eligibility on the Division 1, Number 4 ranked team in the nation. I graduated from the University of Hawaii Manoa in 2007 with a speech language pathology/ Audiology degree.
Since graduating I have been working with a local doctor developing a new autism curriculum, coaching varsity high school soccer, coaching private soccer and swim lessons, and now working with swim2you. Being an athlete my whole life, nothing makes me happier than to teach others the skills that I have obtained throughout the years. Seeing my students learn and progress is what makes me happy and keeps me going as an instructor. I hope to see you in the water! ~ Aloha~
