Swimming has been an important part of my life since I can remember. Originally from the Door County Peninsula, WI, I grew up surrounded by water where swimming, water skiing, sailing, and fishing were part of everyday life (OK maybe not in the winter!)
At age 8, I began to swim competitively and eventually swam at Lake Forest College (Lake Forest, IL) where I achieved All-American status and current record holder. Because physical activity has always played an important role in my life, I found swimming to be indispensable in developing skills and strength for other sports.
I did my first triathlon in 1988 and continue to enter local races; played football, ran cross-country and track in high school, and maintained a single-digit handicap in golf.
Currently, I coach at Parkway Swim Club and Cedarmill Bath and Tennis Club in Chesterfield where my 3 children swim. I will also be assisting the Parkway West High School boys swim team.
Professionally, I am a real estate appraiser which gives me flexibility to pursue my swimming endeavors. I just wish there were more hours in the day to teach swimming as it's my true passion...and you can't fake passion.
